Summer Wedding, Ash Barton Estate
Our couple were absolutely set on embracing colour and season for their July wedding at Ash Barton Estate, N Devon. July is a beautiful month for locally grown flowers, so we were spoilt for choice when it came to choosing our flowers from the local growers.
Devon ceremony wedding flowers
Ash Barton Estate, Devon
Summer is the time to celebrate warmth and vibrancy, and the warm pink, coral, orange and ruby red tones certainly do this in abundance. Our bride wanted a natural and elegant look to the bridal bouquets focusing on local flowers, including geums, malope, scented sweet peas, peonies and clary sage. Peonies are one of the most romantic flowers you can carry in your bouquet, they are synonymous with an English country garden and the layers of petals make this one of the prettiest summer blooms around.
We had to resort to Plan B due to the good old British weather, so we set up the ceremony florals inside ‘The Chapel’. Which, is a hugely atmospheric ceremony space, with the beautifully rustic stone walls twinkling with fairy lights to bring the romance. Stone vases placed on various sized plinths with filled with stunning Cornish foliage, creating a completely natural and full look, overflowing with sumptuous, textured colourful blooms.
Branches of trailing mock orange, not only looked beautiful, l but provided an incredible scent. Mock Orange is such a special foliage, it can almost be considered a flower, a large blossom type flower resides on sweeping fresh green branches and it has the most fleeting season, making it even more desirable. I also sourced some incredible roses from a local grower, again the perfume is absolute heaven and the soft muted tones and big blousy blooms really completed the whole look. By using different vases in the way it is a really great alternative to a flower arch, and creates a really special space for the wedding ceremony.
Natural reception flowers
The reception was held in the big barn on the estate, we dressed the 15 round tables with a mixture of alternate tall and low vases. This allowed the colour and interest to be spread throughout the room, meaning the flowers were not all at one height. A more informal, yet stylish look.
A collection of low glass vases and bud vases lined the top table providing. Full, yet natural runner of seasonal colourful blooms. The large vases from the wedding were also utilised after the ceremony and placed behind the top table.
“I wanted to drop you a quick email to say a huge thank you for the flowers at my wedding a few weeks ago; they were so gorgeous and so many people commented on them saying how beautiful they were. So big and bright, exactly what we wanted!”
