summer marquee wedding at putsborough

Can you get a more glorious North Devon location than a marquee overlooking Putsborough Beach with a beautiful ceremony at the local church in Georgeham.

country garden church wedding flowers

Georgeham, North Devon

Our bride wanted beautifully seasonal May flowers for her wedding bouquets in a soft colour palette of ivory, blush and dusky blue. The first of the peonies were available alongside sweetpeas, roses, campanula with frilly dainty flowers such as sweet rocket and orlaya offering a romantic touch. The boys wore ivory spray rose buttonholes, which looked fitting and smart against their morning suits.

With the groom growing up in the area, the family home overlooked Putsborough beach it was a really special place for the couple to be married. Georgeham church is a quaint village church, cosy and intimate on the inside we created beautiful overflowing urns at the altar, but concentrated on flowering a statement floral arch to surround the church entrance. Filled with tonnes of Cornish foliage, the arch was a great example of how to bring the countryside flowers to a church building. We used the most incredible peach foxgloves, one of May’s finest blooms, blousy roses, peonies, stocks, spray roses and delphiniums. Each wedding is completely unique and dependent on what is flowering at that moment in time, the white lilac was out in force so we could use big branches of this scented sweet delight, which really added lots of texture and interest to the archway.

After the ceremony guests were transported to the most fabulous marquee location you have seen, high up on the coast looking down across Putsborough and Woolacombe beach. Such a special place with lots of memories for the couple it was so important to get the florals right in the marquee. With views like this, we concentrated on providing beautiful table decorations. Full of sweet peas, stocks, roses, oxypetalem, scabious with foliage to complement the bowls are the perfect way to flower round tables. Coloured taper candles in dusky pale blue, mocha and ivory were also placed on the tables to add an extra layer of decor and atmosphere with candlelight.

The bar was dressed with a foliage hanging installation, and we trasnrpoted the flowers back from the church to repurpose at the marquee. The floral archway looked incredible with it’s second role dressing the entrance to the marquee, while the urns provided a great way to decorate the back of the marquee.
