How to use meadow inspired flowers to create a natural and elegant wedding
July is the perfect month to embrace meadow style blooms like daisies and natural grasses, which is exactly what our couple did to celebrate their outdoor wedding at Pynes House this summer. Flowers were extremely important in ensuring we truly made the most of the seasonal blooms on offer. Enjoy these photos from Marta D Weddings.
Naomi and Sam were an absolute delight to work with from the word go, giving me the brief of white, meadow style dainty blooms to include daisies. It was important for the flowers to feel light, airy and frothy with lots of texture and movement so I used a variety of locally grown flowers throughout the wedding design resulting in a completely natural feel to the wedding flowers.
The bridal bouquets were refined, yet textured in their design consisting of daisies, orlaya, scabious, cornflowers, and tanacetum. The touches of yellow work so well throughout the bouquets, just lifting the white tones and offering that true country garden look. The flowers I chose are also a pure white tone, quite often we use ivory coloured blooms in weddings such as roses, however for couples wanting a true white shade, these flower varieties are just that.
outdoor ceremony flowers at pynes house
The wedding ceremony was lucky enough to be held outside, against the stunning backdrop of Pynes House, the grand doors work so well for the ceremony with the ‘altar’ being the gorgeous stone steps! All the guests are seated outside on the gravel entrance with a brilliant view of the happy couple. We dressed the ceremony space with natural floral pillars adorning each side, it was so important to keep the frothy and airy look throughout the whole wedding, so we used only a base layer of dark green foliage to hide the mechanics, the rest of the arrangements were then full of fluffy September flower, daisies, locally grown British gyp, ammi, orlaya, daisies with white scabious as accents. It would have been so easy to use more blousy blooms like roses, peonies or stocks however this would have changed the whole look completely.
meadow table florals
The long tables at Pynes House were full of clear glass votives and bud vases containing lot of seasonal summer grass. By using grass is offers so much texture, movement, I just love the way it subtly moves throughout the table. Fountain grass is one of my favourite grasses to use and the trailing leaves are an interesting addition to the foliage too. This is the perfect way to use meadow inspired flowers to create a natural and elegant looking wedding.
