The ultimate marquee wedding in Somerset!

I absolutely love marquee wedding flowers and Mary-Claire and Daniel’s wedding really was a showstopper of a day, filled with flowers everywhere you looked! I first met with Mary-Claire and her parents at their beautiful family home in Somerset, where the wedding reception was to be held, and we discussed in depth all of their ideas and visions for the big day. Over a cup of tea we wandered the grounds and scoped out the best places to dress with flowers and chatted through mega installation plans for the marquee. I love working at family homes as the weddings are always so personal, and I always feel so privileged to be trusted and welcomed into work at such a special place. I could not have loved working with Mary-Claire and her family more, and was thrilled to receive these stunning images from Green Antlers Photography. Be prepared… this is one epic wedding!

Mary-Claire opted for an elegant and classic combination of all ivory seasonal flowers with mixed soft grey and green foliage. Ivory wedding flowers will always stand the test of time and look beautiful in years to come… I love this timeless colour way! A September wedding we had the pick of the most gorgeous seasonal flowers, lots of them British grown like these dahlias and cosmos. Alongside dutch favourites such as roses, stocks, spray roses and astilbe the bouquets looked wild, natural yet flower filled and stylish. Have you ever seen a more radiant bride?!

The ceremony took place in a church in Wincanton and we dressed the church with large floral pew ends, grand urn arrangements at the front of the church and at the altar creating real impact.

We dressed the drinks reception with large urn arrangements filled with late summer’s finest seasonal blooms such as  gladioli, hydrangeas, scented stocks, larkspur with tons of natural foliage. These urns add a real wow factor and feature arrangement to the simple drinks marquee.

The wedding reception was held in the grounds of the family home so we had plenty of room to play with! Mary-Claire’s father wanted to dress his Series 1 Land Rover in flowers, the guests were luckily enough to be able to use this as such a unique Photo Booth! There is a first for everything in our job and that is why I love being a florist… the first time I have been asked to dress a Land Rover. So much fun!

The marquee from Abbas, was a joy to dress you can be so creative with marquee wedding flowers! Abbas built a custom made apple crate bar in the centre of the marquee and we installed a large foliage wheel above the bar. Filled with lots of trailing seasonal foliage and ivory blooms, this provided a real statement for the centre of the marquee. Either side of the floral ring we created two hanging flower ball installations, which offered interest and impact to either side of the marquee ceiling. Alongside the festoon lighting, the marquee really did look magical!

The tables were dressed with natural arrangements in stone urns, a classy and elegant design and one low enough for guests to be able to see each other around. We felt there was enough going on in the ceiling of the marquee that we could just focus on low arrangements for the tables. We also created a mega archway into the marquee! Unfortunately I don’t have a professional photo of this, just an I Phone… but you can see the large scale foliage really looked amazing, with the placements of ivory blooms as if they were growing out of the archway. An epic way to really welcome your guests to your reception and set the tone for the wedding breakfast!

A fun Photo Booth was decorated with a foliage garland and the cakes were dressed with loose single blooms on a bed of moss. I really couldn’t love this wedding any more, and was so thrilled with the results from myself and my team and thanks to Abbas marquees for being amazing throughout the planning process!
