Priston Mill Wedding Flowers – Lucy and Simon
I always enjoy delivering wedding flowers to Priston Mill, near Bath, the windy country lane you drive along brings you out to the most amazing barn and views of the rolling hills! Lucy wanted seasonal winter wedding flowers available in January, and focused on using burgundy, claret and dark purple flowers with a hint of white. I suggested in the initial planning meeting that ranunculus, anemone and narcissi would be perfect!

Lucy’s wanted a natural and soft looking bouquet with an emphasis on wispy textures such as the fountain grass and ginista. Ginista or broom as it is known in the garden is a fabulous spring filler and comes in a variety of soft pastel colours, it also has a beautiful scent too which is an extra bonus. Lucy was keen to incorporate white thistles in her wedding flowers so these nestled in alongside astrantia, purple lisi and burgundy spray roses. A lovely bouquet with lots of interest and texture. The stems were finished off with natural twine and claret ribbon.

The bridesmaids carried smaller versions of the bride’s bouquet and the boys wore white thistle buttonholes with foliage sprigs. When it came to decorating Priston Mill with wedding flowers Lucy and Simon wanted to keep to their rustic and natural look. I placed tall glass vases in the alcoves of the barn, the dark colour scheme with the hint of ivory looked great against the stone barn walls. I also hung jam jars on the end of the chairs which were filled with seasonal flowers adding a different dimension to the usual tied bunches that sit can sit on the chairs. These were then moved onto the tables to sit alongside tall vases filled with rustic branches and candles.

A large pedestal arrangement was placed next to the ceremony table offering impact filled with lisianthus, stocks, roses, thistles, spray roses with lots of rustic foliage, wax flowers and twigs. It is always a lovely idea to have a large focal arrangement near the ceremony table as this usually provides a good backdrop to photos and also fills the large space of the barn walls. Lots of love to Lucy and Simon on your big day!
