Luxury marquee wedding flowers

In August we worked on the most wonderful marquee wedding flowers in Somerset, filled with seasonal blooms in ivory and blush! Tamsin had wanted her flowers to be natural, loose, elegant and overflowing so we created a beautiful floral scheme within the Archers marquee in the grounds of George’s family home.

The bouquets were kept natural, elegant and trailing with soft grey foliage accompanying the seasonal blooms. I used beautiful scented ‘O Hara’ roses that smell like old fashioned country garden roses, ‘Majolica’ spray roses which have a gorgeous porcelain/muted type look to them, astrantia and larkspur. I also added in some British grown ‘creme brûlée’ phlox. The majority of my flowers do come from Holland, however within peak season it is always special to include aspects of British grown flowers. They tend to be more unique, twisted, individual and offer those extra twiddly bits that seem to make the bouquets!

Tamsin has 6 bridesmaids and wanted them to have petite, dainty natural bouquets so I used just a few seasonal flowers here amongst the natural eucalyptus varieties. All of the bouquets were finished off with the most exquisite trailing silk ribbons. The buttonholes were ivory spray roses and foliage sprigs tied with silk ribbon.

When you are lucky enough to get married at home, you can have free rein and get married anywhere! Tamsin and George choose to get married under an ancient oak tree in the gardens, surrounded by lots of other trees it was such a picturesque setting. Accompanied by friends and families on hay bales… Tamsin rode into the ceremony on a white horse!

We wanted to emulate the gardens outside the marquee within, so we used lots of beautiful tall birch trees to dress the poles and the corners of the bouquets. The soft green, dainty birch foliage is one of my favourites and is such a dappled texture it provides such atmosphere within a marquee. Dressed with lights too, the trees looked stunning at night too! Using trees is a way to add that luxury feel to your marquee wedding, without going over the top with structured florals and keeping nature in mind.

The long rustic wooden tables were dressed with countless glass bottles filled with seasonal blooms such as cafe au lait dahlias, which are the perfect blush tone! Roses, stocks, campanula, larkspur with foliage to complement. I also placed in clusters of herbs in terracotta pots, which guests could take afterwards. Thyme, Rosemary, Mint and Oregano plants offered such scent too.

I love the long table set up within a marquee, it provides such a laid back feel to the reception where guests can really feel at home. The catering by Queen and Whippet was something else, when I popped back in the morning I could see the guys setting up the next day brunch filled with amazing salads, breads, meats it looks incredible! I love the way how the birch trees pop up in the background throughout the photos, the lush summer green really adds such subtle interest and texture to the photos.

When you get married at home you put a lot of trust into the suppliers you work with, Olivia from Host Weddings and Events did an amazing job of planning the wedding and is always such a delight to work with. You can ensure the day will run more than smoothly if Olivia is involved! Such a treat to look through the photos from Irena K Photography and a pleasure to work with Tamsin, George and their families on their Somerset wedding!
