Kingscote Barn Wedding Flowers – Pretty, summer blue and white wedding flowers
This weekend I provided wedding flowers at Kingscote Barn in the Cotswold hills in Glocestershire, the first time I had been to this venue I was so impressed by how beautiful it was and for how welcoming the staff were when I arrived. Kate and Richard chose to get married at this fab barn in the countryside on a hot summer Sunday in July. I got to work with a beautiful, seasonal selection of pale blue and white summer flowers with a slightly wild and rustic feel to them, my favourite!

Kate wanted a hand tied bouquet filled with seasonal flowers focusing on peonies, dahlias, scabiosa, delphiniums, and spray roses. In order to get lots of texture within the boquet I used astilbe and ascelepias, which is a flower that normally comes in orange… this was the first time I had seen it in white so snapped it up from the market! I used two different types of eucalyptus as its soft greeny/grey tones work wonderfully against the pale blue and ivory tones. I finished off the bouquet by securing the tie point with a band of natural twine, keeping within Kate’s rustic look.

Kate had five bridesmaids who carried a similar version of her bouquet. While the boys had natural, tied buttonholes of lisianthus, nigella, spray rose with eucalyptus and rosemary foliage tied with natural twine.

Kingscote Barn is a beautiful stone barn so the colour way of pale blue and ivory looked fab within the pale stone of the walls. I decorated the two window alcoves with a large kilner vase filled with a wild looking vase arrangement, including dill, delphiniums, stocks nigella, asclepias, scabious and astilbe. These filled the alcoves perfectly and added decoration to the back of the barn.

To the end of the chairs I tied small bunches of ivory and pale blue flowers to the chair with raffia. This lined the aisle of the barn providing a gorgeous walkway for which the couple would make their way through as Mr and Mrs!

For the wedding table decorations I used a collection of jam jars and glass vases filled with a seasonal selection of pale blue and ivory flowers. The jam jars were initially placed on the registrars table and in the window sills throughout the barn whilst the ceremony was taking place, providing a subtle, summery back drop to the barn. I decorated the gallery of the barn with a foliage swag filled with blue hydrangeas and ivory spray roses.

I really did enjoy making these lovely summer wedding flowers for Kate and Rich and felt they had a great vision for the look they were trying to achieve by keeping things simple and seasonal and decorating the barn with only flowers. Obviously I am bias but you really cant beat a country barn filled with flowers for a wedding! Photographing the wedding was Matt Willis and I am really thankful for him recommending me to the couple, he also had a side kick second shooter for the day Kerry Diamond. It was also good to meet Lee from Strawberry Fields catering, which was nice to put a face to a name! I am sure the couple were very spoilt all day with tasty food and drinks! I am wishing Kate and Rich lots of love and happiness in their new life together!
