Holly and Adam – A Wedding on the Quantocks
On Saturday I was so chuffed to provide wedding flowers for a lovely couple who got married in one of my favourite places, the Quantocks, in Somerset. Holly and Adam got married at the beautiful little church in Enmore, which I decked out with pew ends and pedestal arrangements. I had been worried all week about the weather on their big day however as soon as I started to unload the van at the church the rain had lifted, and I even saw a touch of blue sky! I was feeling very optimistic that the sun would shine for them on their wedding day!

Holly chose a purple and white colour scheme and wanted peonies, roses and hydrangeas in her bouquet, a classic choice, yet still seasonal by using peonies and the hydrangeas. Peonies are only around for a short season so as a florist it is most important to use them when you can as they are such a beautiful flower! To add in extra tones of purple I used lilac and dark purple lisianthus. Holly wanted a bouquet with texture and interest so I used fountain grass which has a lovely delicate, flowing nature and buplerum and salal. The bridesmaids bouquets had a similar look and feel to them, however without the white peonies.

The reception was held in a marquee and Enmore Golf Club, Holly chose tall glass vases for the table centres in which I placed arrangements of purple hydrangeas, white peonies, lisianthus, roses and lilac stocks with trailing foliage. The tall vases are perfect to use in marquees as they really do fill the space and add plenty of colour to the setting. I am looking forward to getting the professional photos back as mine really do not do the flowers justice!!

When setting up the marquee it was interesting to see how the Groom, Adam had influenced the wedding decor: the tables were named after Arsenal football legends! The couple opted for a traditional trailing long and low arrangement for the top table again using the wedding flowers of hydrangeas, peonies, roses, lisianthus and stocks. I also placed some clear glass fish-bowls for the bride and bridesmaids bouquets to sit in during the dinner, which would add extra decoration and colour to the top table.

They were a great couple to work with and I wish them all the best in their new married life together! xxx
