Autumn Wedding Flowers – Wick Farm, Bath
Autumn is such a popular time of year to marry and you can see why when you look at this selection of autumnal wedding flowers! Not all couples want to run with the classic autumnal shades of reds, golds and oranges but for those who do you are totally spoilt for choice, and these colours reflect nature just perfectly at this time of year…The changing colour of the trees from green to russet, gold and yellow is the natural match for these beautiful flowers!

Take Alice’s bouquet above, she and James were married at Wick Farm in Bath a couple of weeks back and Alice was so laid back with the brief of rustic, natural autumnal flowers! I loved making her bouquet, just look at the texture within it from the various foliage and grasses, alongside the bright red hypericum berries and the orange thistle like flower carthumus. I couldn’t just make a bouquet out of filler and foliage (although autumn is the season to do this if you so wish to…!) so I used large bronze chrysanthemum blooms, orange dahlias, red roses and yellow spray roses. Some people may turn their noses up at chrysanthemums but they are a key player in autumnal flowers for me and I just love the smell, taking me back to my days as a Saturday girl strimming the leaves of thousands of the things!

Alice wanted her bridesmaids to have seasonal bouquets filled with just orange and yellow flowers amongst the autumnal foliage to match their dresses. Wick Farm is a beautiful barn just outside Bath and stunning at this time of year, the barn was filled with candles and floral wreaths on the tables filled with tonnes of rustic foliage, and texture including twigs and seed heads.

In autumn you can get creative with your buttonholes! Just take a look at this mismatched selection of calla lily, dahlias and roses accompanied by hypericum, carthumus, thistles and berried eucalyptus. Gone are the days of plonking a carnation in your top pocket!

The warmth that these flowers exude is amazing and perfect for an autumn wedding… just add a fur stole and an open log fire and you’re ready to go!
