August Wedding Flowers – Bristol, Bath and Somerset
WOW! what a weekend…! I had the busiest weekend on record here at The Rose Shed providing five lovely couples with their wedding flowers over the duration of the weekend. It involved a lot of organisation from my part and plenty of trips to the market as the weddings fell on days from the Saturday, Sunday and Monday!

Matt got in touch a short while ago looking for flowers for his wedding at Hotel du Vin, Bristol. He very kindly gave me the brief of ‘summer flowers’ with no yellow, and left the rest up to me! This was a florists dream being able to pick from an abundant supply of seasonal flowers in August. I went for a palette of pale pink, pale blue and ivory including Sweet Avalanche roses, Sweet Sensation spray roses, white stocks, white astilbe, white astrantia, pale blue delphiniums with touches of pale grey eucalyptus. Some of my favourite summer flowers!

Alex and Matt were married in Taunton, holding their reception at Roughmoor Farm, which only opened as a wedding venue last year. In a great location, this really had the rustic, country feel that so many couples are wanting from their wedding. Alex chose an extremely pretty palette of peach, lilac and soft purple for her wedding flowers and I have to admit I am totally in love with her boquets! Filled with scabiosas, peach Avalanche roses, lilac sweet peas, Memory Lane roses, Blue Genie roses with rosemary, lavender and eucalyptus these bouquets smelt as good as they looked.

The tables in the marquee were decorated with kilner jars filled with seasonal flowers in lilac, blue and peach and I was so chuffed I got to use my milk churns I picked up at Chelsea Flower Show for the first time. These stood proudly either side of the entrance to the marquee and were filled with hydrangeas, tall delphiniums, ammi and larkspur, all seasonal country garden favourites perfect for a couple of churns!

Charlotte and Sam got married at the gorgeous Priston Mill, near Bath on Saturday. Charlotte wanted a natural, rustic looking bouquet filled with white hydrangeas, lilac sweet peas, pink pepita spray roses, lavender and fountain grass. I loved the feel of this bouquet with the longer stems, this did look like a natural just ‘handpicked’ bouquet. The bridesmaids carried bouquets of all white hydrangeas, a classic and simple idea to keep in mind when choosing brideamaids bouquet. To decorate Priston I decorated a heart wreath filled with all gyp, decorated the window sills with pink gyp plants in zinc buckets, whilst the tables were decorated with a lavender plant in the centre surrounded by jam jars filled with natural looking, seasonal flowers in ivory, pale pink and lilac.

Kerri was married at the beautiful Coombe Lodge, Blagdon near Bristol on Sunday and chose beautiful wedding flowers in ivory, pale pink and blush tones. I used roses, dahlias, lisianthus, peonies with touches of eucalyptus and gyp. I think this is the last of the peonies for this year, although I though that last week, and then they popped up again at the market this week! Blush tones are becoming more popular with couples, and brides wanting that elegant, sophisticated look this colour way brings.

For the buttonholes and corsages I used all different flowers yet in the same pale pink, ivory and blush colours and tied them together with natural twine. Hessian, twine and wood were the themes running through the wedding and Kerri had put so much effort into decorating the tables, I have never been presented with a box full of jam jars so pretty! Here they are adorning the tables at Coombe Lodge.

My final couple to get married this weekend was Tessa and Andrew who were getting married in North Devon on Monday, a bright wedding full of sunflowers, craspedia, thistles, grasses and daisies, I am most annoyed I forgot to take any photos… most unlike me!! Lots of love to all the happy couples who were wed this weekend!! This weekend I am on bridesmaids duties as well as florist duties as The Rose Shed travels up north to Sheffield for my cousins wedding…. I cannot wait!
