Almonry Barn Wedding Flowers – Emily and Christian

A few weeks ago it was so lovely to be able to supply wedding flowers at Almonry Barn, a beautiful wedding venue in Somerset. Emily and Christian came to me with a very clear vision of how they wanted their wedding day to look and I was thrilled when they chose me as their wedding florist for their big day! Emily opted for soft, antique beige, dusky pink and ivory tones focusing on beautiful roses such as ‘mentha’ ‘amnesia’ and ‘quicksand’ all absolutely stunning rose varieties that work perfectly well together!

The bride and bridesmaid carried hand tied bouquets featuring the above roses, ivory spray roses, white ranunculus with the one of my favourite fillers white astrantia. It has an almost pearlescent glow to it and a more elegant alternative to wax flower or gyp. Emily wanted a neat, compact design with a focus on pale grey foliage including eucalyptus and senecio. The senecio was unfortunately unavailable at the market so I made a dash to my local garden centre and picked up a couple trays of the bedding plant which was very lucky! I think it makes the bouquet the soft, silver, velvety texture of the leaf sets off all the other flowers… never underestimate the power of foliage!! It can be just as, if not as important as the flowers!

Emily had put so much effort into her wedding and decided that her and her Mum would make the jam jar centrepieces for the tables. I usually don’t recommend this to couples as I feel it can be a stressful experience and always takes longer than you think, however after getting to know Emily and her family over the last few years I knew that they would be absolutely fine as very organised and would be more than capable! I should also mention they made all the cakes too….! The church was filled with pickling jars tied with lace and filled with peonies, hydrangeas, roses, gyp and eucalyptus which are a great focal point for the ceremony. The entrance to the church is a metal archway which was decorated with a gyp garland, so soft and romantic and such a welcome for guests when the enter the church.

To decorate the door at Almonry Barn I made a floral heart filled with the roses, lisianthus, ranunculus, majolica spray rose and gyp. This was hung with ivory lace and is a perfect welcome at the barn. Floral hearts have been so popular this year with couples getting married and I can see why, a real statement piece! I loved working with Emily and Christian and will look forward to seeing the pics of your big day from the very talented Naomi Kenton! If you are getting married at Almonry Barn and looking for wedding flowers then do get in touch, I would love to hear your ideas! Rachel@theroseshed.co.uk 07812 160303
